Several years ago, a former moderator of Stormfront Downunder, David Innes, arranged to have his personal website hosted by a racist crank from South Australia called Colin Campbell III, aka“Reverend Col Campbell 3rd, Komandant WCOTR”. Col’n was at that time (mid-2006) the Australian representative of the White Crusaders Of The RaHoWa!™ — one of the many splinters from Matt Hale’s Church of the Creator.
“Not White? Not Welcome!” boasted NetworkWhite.Net.
Since then, despite starring in a feature in Zoo magazine on ‘The Most Dangerous Men In Australia’, David has been denounced as a Race Traitor™, given the boot from Stormfront Downunder by his Yanqui masters, and the position of Fat Controller has been taken up by his brother and fellow Nutzi, Paul Innes, under whose expert guidance the forum has rapidly declined in popularity.
The idea that Paul Innes is also a ZOG™ agent is of course completely preposterous.
As for Col’n, he and his fellow Creators — one in Victoria and one in Queensland — are engaged in a ding-dong battle with the other Creator in Australia, the Reverend Patrick O’Sullivan, for legitimate title to the reins of the Church Down Under. While Col’n and the other pair maintain a number of Creator sites — not without a few hiccups along the way — Patrick has denounced the other mob as being agents of ZOG JOG™. Rather than maintaining a web presence, Patrick spends his valuable time putting stickers up around town and treating fellow Stormfront members to brief, angry missives. Patrick’s own mob is now known as ‘The Creativity Movement’ (TCM), and he is listed by the US-based cult as the main (and only) contact for Australia (PO Box 1622, Collingwood, 3066, Victoria, paxrahowa88@hotmail.com). According to Col’n:
For those that are not in the know, TCM is an abbreviation that refers to a group who call themselves “The Creativity Movement”. Prior to TCM’s formation in 2003, any reference to “the Creativity Movement” was in relation to all Creators, no matter what their status was within The Church. Since that date, things have changed. The name is now more or less owned by the group calling themselves “The Creativity Movement”, and can no longer be used as a blanket reference to all Creators. In Australia, the name “Creativity Movement” is a registered trademark (sealing date, October 8 of 2008) purchased by TCM’s local representative in Melbourne, Patrick O’Sullivan.
On April 6, 2005, ‘Pontifex Maximus’ Matt Hale was sentenced to a 40-year prison term for his attempt to solicit the murder of Judge Joan Lefkow, who had ruled against Hale’s Church in a patent case. Lefkow was vilified as a “probable Jew,” “criminal judge” and “kike- and nigger-loving” traitor. Hale’s projected release date is December 6, 2037.
Since his incarceration, Hale has become something of a martyr for Creators, as well as other Nutzis. Recently, William ‘Bill’ White, Pontifex Maximus of the “American National Socialist Workers Party” (ANSWP), has been arrested and jailed for allegedly using his website to solicit another person to injure a juror in Hale’s case on account of their role as the foreperson of the jury that convicted him.
Oops.
Creepy Australians
Closer to home, fellow Stormfront member Dr James Saleam recently made a trip to Wellington to address several score boneheads belonging to the New Zealand National Front as they gathered outside the Parliament building. While there, ‘Jim’ took the opportunity to have himself photographed fondling a book which once belonged to Asher, one of the individuals involved in FightDemBack! in New Zealand.
Exactly why the Jew-hating Jim agreed to have his photo taken — and why he gave permission to Queensland-based neo-Nazi Jim Perren to publish it on his blog, ‘Whitelaw Towers’ — is unexplained. (The caption which accompanies the photo reads “Australia First spokesperson Jim Saleam checks out Asher Goldman’s favorite [childhood] book… hopefully to get some insight into the twisted mind of a Zionist. The inscription reads ‘To our darling Asher on your third birthday love mummy and daddy’.”) After all, it was only a few months ago, in September, that Dr. Jim registered his disapproval of a political prank directed at his party during local council elections: “There are a number of standard lines people tend to trot out when they want to oppose us,” he said. “This Nazi rubbish is one of them”. Being pictured holding a childhood book which once belonged to a young Jewish man — a number of whose relatives perished in the Holocaust — is just… well… c r e e p y.
And just the kind of thing you’d expect from a Nutzi.
Speaking of anti-Semtiic creeps, and returning to the earlier theme of creativity…
Tales from the Creeps: A White Nationalist Horror Story
In honor of the holiday, the Hatewatch staff dug deep into our photo archives to unearth the creepiest image to crawl out of the white supremacist movement in quite some time. Here you go:
Though it resembles a promotional still from the 1960 horror flick The Brides of Dracula, starring Peter Cushing, the photo (which apparently circulated among white supremacists on the Internet) actually shows Women for Aryan Unity activist Victoria “Vickie” Cahill standing over the embalmed (we hope!) corpse of David Lane, one of the inner-circle members of the Bruders Schweigen, or Silent Brotherhood, a white nationalist terrorist organization also known as The Order…
…Cahill has raised the ire of another prominent female in the white nationalist movement — Abby Chelf, the wife of Randal Krager, leader of the racist skinhead gang Volksfront — by distributing an essay that was harshly critical of Christian Identity, a bizarre racist interpretation of the Bible that is practiced by as many as 50,000 white nationalists, including Chelf.
Cahill subscribes to Wotanism, the racist neo-pagan religion promulgated by Lane.
Titled “Christian Identity, The Synagogue of Satan,” the essay called Christian Identity practitioners “direct enemies of our folk and our Heathen roots” and “a weed that needs to be viciously ripped out.”
Judging by the blistering responses on Volksfront’s website, it’s safe to say Chelf and her fellow Volksfront skins are looking to smash Cahill’s pumpkin.”

The New Zealand National Front (NZNF) held a rally in Wellington on Saturday, October 25. This follows former NF secretary Kerry Bolton’s successful campaign to have a thesis examining the links between neo-Nazi and Satanic beliefs in New Zealand removed from Waikato University. According to Radio New Zealand, 120 people in total attended the NF’s celebrations of National Flag Day outside Parliament, and 30 police kept the peace. (TV3 reckons 150 people attended.) Other sources suggest that the 120 or 150 people present were fairly evenly divided between decent, flag-saluting, law-abiding white folk, on the one hand, and indecent, law-breaking, flag-burning criminals, on the other.
Aotearoa Indymedia reports:
Anti-fascist activists gathered at the Cenotaph in Wellington this morning in opposition to the Nationalist Alliance, a coalition comprising white-supremacist groups the National Front, New Right and the National Democrats.
A banner was hung from the Cenotaph (”No racism - Anti-Fascist Action”) as around 65 anti-fascists danced and held the Cenotaph as a fascist free space, removing a fascist photographer from the New Right from the area.
The fascists were expected at 11am, however they must have missed their train and finally showed up at 11.30am. Instead of approaching the Cenotaph, they were escorted by police up Molesworth Street to Parliament grounds. There were around 40 fascists present, many of them waving New Zealand flags.
The anti-fascists claimed victory for holding the Cenotaph and charged up the bank to Parliament grounds where a line of police and a metal fence protected the fascists. “More hair than brains”, “No room for racism” and “Hey hey, ho ho, your racism has got to go” were chanted, drowning out all the speeches by the fascists. Jim Saleam, who served time in jail for firebombing a Brisbane bookshop and organising a shotgun attack against a representative of the African National Congress, Steve Larsen from the New Right and Kyle Chapman all attempted to give speeches - without success.
The fascists retreated after about 30 mins and were chased to the train station by anti-fascist activists. Bagels were thrown at them while they were protected by a police line. Two antifa were arrested by police at that point. Following a scuffle, some anti-fascists went to the train station, just in time for 3 fascists to emerge. They were chased across Bunny Street and again had bagels thrown at them. They were protected by a lone cop who tried (and failed) to arrest an antifa, while frantically calling for back-up. All the anti-fascists managed to get away safely and went to the police station, waiting for their comrades to be released.
Once again, the day was a victory for the anti-fascists!
The anti-fascist rally at the Cenotaph was already cranking by the time that I got there, 30 or so people at 10 o’clock. We aimed to be there an hour before the boneheads did just to be sure. There was a sound system playing truly cheesy disco hits and about 30 people in black-bloc-meets-circus costumes. There were a few cops around but it wasn’t too heavy.
The train from the Hutt carrying the boneheads was due around 11. They turned up with their customary police escort. The bypassed the Cenotaph entirely and headed to the Parliament lawn around the monument of King Dick Seddon. Ironically, there were quite a few 5′-5′2″ (fully-grown) warriors amongst them.
There was a bit of chanting and general yelling back and forth. As noted, they had their kids out the front in case we threw something. The chants petered out (”more hair than brains” was still the best to date). Individual remarks were exchanged, some wittier than others. Most memorable was “this National Front demonstration was brought to you by the methadone clinic”. Angry Guy was my fave, he was this 5′-nothing pot-bellied aging bulldog of a dude with bodgy tatts and decked out in classic bonehead garb. He kept yelling and giving us the finger, which was very mediapathic for his whole crew.
The assorted boneheads milled around about 10m behind a metal barricade, flanked by Parliamentary Security on one side and cops on the other. When our mob got up the hill and partway up parliamentary lawns, the cops formed a line stopping us another 10m or so short of the barricade. The short, stocky fellow with the Totenkopf on his shirt and the Confederate buckle asked us why we supported paedophiles.
Kyle and Jim made speeches, but the police presence deterred any kind of public attendance other than a few bemused tourists. They snapped a whole bunch of pictures and filmed us for their current Redwatch effort. Some yelled at us to remove our masks, even though there was at least one masked bonehead amongst them.
After a rather brief stay, they made their way back to the train station via the underground tunnel. We got as far as the tunnel entrance, when I had my back turned there was a scuffle and a couple of people got arrested. The cops seemed unnecessarily rough and there was a lot of screaming.
Some people split off and moved down to the main entrance, where we’d spotted three boneheads with a lone cop. We followed them for a bit, bagels or miscellaneous other items were thrown. There was another scuffle, but no arrests. The cop got some back-up there eventually (see the TVNZ footage of the cops running off).
That was pretty much the day, they got the train back out to the Hutt and we went back to whatever we were doing.
As noted, among those in attendance at the rally was Dr James Saleam, Führer of the Australia First Party (NSW Inc.). The ‘Mad Arab’ — as he was once dubbed by his political rivals on the far right — has cobbled together an ‘Alliance’ between his party and various denizens of the far right in New Zealand; principally the National Front, but including the National Democrats and the New Right.
In his usual manner, Herr Doktor opined NZ Flag Day Was A Great Success For The Nationalists: ANZAC Ties Strengthened Between NZ And Australian Nationalists! “…Just under 70 nationalists were confronted by 34 or so anarchists! It is no accident that the rebirth of the two countries as independent realities based upon their Euro culture but with new identities born of history, is opposed here by the same negative forces as would oppose us in Australia. These dross will serve only to delay your victory but not frustrate it. Inside the parliament sit men in suits who would sell out their country, to globalise it. Here protesting are those unclean drugged out ones who would do the exact same thing. How ironic, and yet these out here say they are opposed to those in there. It’s almost scum above and scum below… I reiterated my words [on TV] and said that the NZ movement was professionalising itself as were we in Australia!”
One of Dr Saleam’s former allies is Mark Wilson, who has since jumped ship and joined Saleam’s arch-enimy the Australian Protectionist Party. In this capacity, Mark addressed the BNP’s RedWhite & Blue festival this year. In 2005, however, Mark was still on good terms with Herr Doktor, and echoed his thoughts on the rabble of rowdy rebels who apparently threatened to close the 2005 Sydney Forum. “Last but not least, there was the threat of “mass demonstrations”. It was said “two thousand screaming leftists”, anti-white racists in fact, were to “shut down” the Forum. Or so said a pro status-quo group of Israel supporters called ‘Fight Dem Back’. A grand total of thirteen (13) sad, brainwashed, pro-system haters eventually turned up to stop us from having our lawful free-speech gathering.”
Boo!
More ominously, Mark noted that “[o]ne important event was the Patriotic Youth League (PYL) national meeting which was held at a very friendly Sydney watering-hole. New young people stepped forward to staff existing branches and start a new one.”
White men! White women! The flag is calling you. The scared and ancient symbol of your race, since the beginning of time. The Jew is using The Black as muscle against you. And you are left there helpless. Well, what are you going to do about it, Whitey? Just sit there? Of course not! You are going to join with us. The members of the Trans-Tasman, National Socialist, White Peoples’ Party. An organisation of decent, law abiding white folk. Just like you!
It is a highly unusual move to remove a student’s work after publication.
The thesis, published six months ago and titled Dreamers of the Dark: Kerry Bolton and the Order of the Left Hand Path, a Case-study of a Satanic/Neo Nazi Synthesis, was submitted as part of a Masters degree by philosophy and religious studies student Roel Van Leeuwen.
Mr Bolton is a well-known figure both in New Zealand and Australia in the far-right movement, and is a former National Front secretary.
The university’s student newspaper, Nexus, reported today the thesis was available to read at the university’s library and on-line publishing repository, as recently as two weeks ago.
Nexus reported neither Mr Van Leeuwen nor the thesis co-supervisor, Professor Dov Bing, were notified prior to its sudden removal.
The newspaper said it established that no legal threat had been received against either Mr Van Leeuwen or the University of Waikato. Rather, the thesis was the subject of a mere complaint from Kerry Bolton.
Professor Bing told Nexus the thesis was a first-class piece of work, and was externally moderated by other universities before being published.
The thesis was assessed by two senior academics from other New Zealand universities, Professor Bing said.
They both deemed it to be a first-class piece of research.
Mr Van Leeuwen told Nexus he was surprised that he had not been told that the thesis was being pulled.
Mr Bolton’s website shows numerous letters he has sent to the University’s Vice Chancellor, Roy Crawford, complaining about the thesis.
Mr Bolton said the thesis “amounts to a poorly contrived smear-document against a private individual, namely myself”.
He said the thesis was “ineptly researched” and reading it made him feel literally and physically sick.
He pointed to what he said were numerous flaws in the thesis.
Mr Van Leeuwen said he stood by his work. The thesis had received full-class honours and it was accurate.
Mr Bolton has featured on the self-described Holocaust revisionist Adelaide Institute’s website, whose founder and director Fredrick Toben was arrested on October 1 at Heathrow Airport for holocaust denial.
Why are the National Front opposing bail for those arrested in the recent police raids against people who have been labeled “terrorists”? Perhaps the National Front should take a look at their own organisation and those that have made up its ranks past and present. There’s a lot for them to explain there.
The group has historically been lead by some rather dodgy types. The NF’s current National Secretary is Colin King-Ansell, who was jailed for attacking a synagogue back in the days when he was quite open about his Nazi politics. Interestingly, despite claiming to the Taranaki Daily News last year that he left far-right politics behind 25 years ago, he helped set up a nazi skinhead gang called Unit 88 in Auckland in the late 1990s. After that failed he set up the Fascist Union with Kyle Chapman and Kerry Bolton. The Fascist Union issued this poster containing an incredible array of spelling mistakes :
Chapman himself burned down the meeting house of a Southland marae in his youth, before becoming the NFs National Director. He was always talking about how the NF was setting up a “militia”.
Chapman issued a particularly odd press release in his time as the NFs Director in which he claimed the NF was close to declaring war on the NZ Government. When he left the NF he formed his own “militia”.
Then of course there was that business of a previous NF Wellington Representative and some of his NF mates getting into trouble for $70,000 worth of stolen explosives!
Lest we forget, the NFs (now ex-) Youth Representative and their former webmaster went to jail for attacking seven Auckland mosques. Don’t be fooled by National Director Sid Wilson’s claim of trigger-happyRoss Baumgarten being a “recent recruit”. He had been involved in and attended NF demos over a year before the attacks. The NF’s Hamilton representative at the time also took part in a vandalism attack on a Maori carving, causing $15,000 damage.
The NF aren’t too shy about flaunting nazi insignia on their clothing or tattooed upon their bodies at their demonstrations.
Neither are they shy about their “militia” training camp a few years ago.
Check it out, four NF leaders in one shot- and they all say they didn’t notice all the nazi armbands and salutes going down.
If you have a lot of skeletons rattling around in your closet, you shouldn’t go pointing the bone at others. The NF don’t seem to have learned that one.
In the wake of 17 people from Maori activist and environmental groups being arrested in NZ recently for some sort of “terrorist” conspiracy, former National Front leader Kyle Chapman has begun organising public “meetings about terror Issues” with right-wingers around New Zealand.
Kyle wants to discuss “Moari terrorism and how we as a movemnet would react to it” [sic], and “police crack downs and how we can protect ourselves from them.” He’s put a posting, readable by all, on white supremacist website “Stormfront,” but states the meetings are only for those who know him.
Well, we know him. It seems a bit rich that Kyle is concerned about “Moari terrorism” (Note: Kyle’s not big on spelling!)
Chapman issued a particularly odd press release in his time as the NF’s Director in which he claimed the NF was close to declaring war on the NZ Government.
Eventually Kyle left the NF as the pressure was getting to him.
Swastika threat juror to flee NZ
September 8, 2007
A juror in a white supremacist kidnapping trial who received a drawing of a swastika with the words “not guilty” is leaving New Zealand so he can protect his family.
The note was left on the doorstep of his Hutt Valley home on July 13.
Lloyd James Bowling was ordered yesterday to stand trial for being party to an attempt to corruptly influence the juror, but no explanation has been given for how the juror’s home address was traced.
The juror, whose name was suppressed, said his first thoughts were for his family then he rang the High Court at Wellington where the trial was being held.
“I left a not very nice message on the answerphone telling them I was not very happy about what has happened,” he said from behind a screen while the public was excluded in Lower Hutt District Court yesterday.
The man was discharged from the jury and the trial continued with 11 jurors.
He said he was taking steps to protect his family, “as best I can”.
He would not stay in New Zealand.
Police searching the Stokes Valley home where Bowling, 40, was living, found photographs of the kidnapping victim from the trial in which the juror had been sitting.
Nazi propaganda and obscenities had been written over the photos. One of them included: “Lucky you didn’t die”.
Bowling, unemployed, was remanded in custody to appear in the High Court on October 15, when a trial date may be set.
Bowling’s lawyer, Keith Jefferies, had said there was no certainty about who wrote the note and no evidence about who delivered it.
For the police, lawyer Grant Burston said it was alleged Bowling had helped or encouraged the crime.
He was a close associate of the four men - Jaydon Russell Borland, Jason George Gregory, Mark Alexander Gage and Benjamin Peter McPadden - on trial for kidnapping and robbing Canadian tourist Jeremie Kawerninski in April last year.
Gage was discharged, and the other three have been sentenced on various charges.
Police say Bowling’s fingerprint was on the note sent to the juror and the paper was ripped from a notebook he had been using.
In a written statement put forward at the hearing, Detective Sergeant Brent Murray said Bowling denied knowing about the note, but then gave a “hypothetical” explanation.
“What if, hypothetically, I wrote the note but didn’t know it was being delivered?”
He Bowling said it was written, hung on the wall, then disappeared. He later read about it in the press.
Sid “the Squid” Wilson seems to have been taking a few more hits on the bucket bong lately; he’s now claiming the National Front are attracting Maori members.
Funnily enough, at all their demos there hasn’t been a single brown-skinned person present in their ranks, which seem to always consist of a bunch of guys with shaved heads and nazi tattoos. Maori people have been observed letting the NF know what they think of them though.
NF leaders of the past have had plenty to say about Maori people. Former NF Fuhrer Kyle Chapman burned down a meeting house at a Southland marae in his younger days, Nic Miller described Maori as being “a bunch of niggers” on the now-defunct nzpolitcs.com forums when he was the NFs Wellington Rep, and let’s not forget the escapades of the NFs former Hamilton Rep Troy Cullinane.
Sid may delude himself that the NF has put all that behind them now but we suppose self-deception won’t do him any real harm. However we do get the feeling that Sid’s touchy-feely statements about Maori have more to do with the rather hot reception the NF got when they turned up to Waitangi Day celebrations last year claiming that the Government had failed to honour what he claimed was the ‘real’ Treaty, which turned out to be a draft document signed by nobody!
We don’t want to appear to be Cynical Cyril’s, but we suspect the NF’s newfound Maori contingent may exist in the same universe as some of their other more fanciful recruitment claims.
As the Adelaide Institute has been featured on FDB recently, we decided to take another look at what they get up to. The Adelaide Institute don’t feature much here, they’re basically a collection of dull old men who like to babble on about how the Holocaust never happened. A subject common amongst those on the far right. We had a look at their website and who should still have a series of articles on there but yet another dull old Holocaust denier - Kerry Bolton .
The subject of the Holocaust is so dear to Kerry that he even wrote a book about it - where we were dutifully informed that the Holocaust is actually a ‘criminal allegation’ rather than a fact.
But we digress. So what if Bolton is on the Adelaide Institute’s website? Well, it’s just that Bolton published the very well researched (cough, cough) booklet “Red Alert” about a year ago where he claimed the various links between him and far right groups, imagery and nazi logos were all just part of a campaign to “smear” him as some kind of nazi sypathiser. Strangely, although he mentioned the Adelaide Institute, he never explained why they have a whole bunch of articles written by him defending Hitler and the Nazi Party. But, you might say, perhaps the Adelaide Institute published Bolton’s articles on their website without his permission? Possible, but then he was described on the website as being an “Adelaide Institute Associate in New Zealand”. Add that to the fact that some rants, such as this one and Bolton’s abusive letter to an elderly war veteran don’t appear to be published elsewhere, and we can only assume that they were sent to the Adelaide Institute by Bolton himself. How else would the Adelaide Institute have got hold of Bolton’s rather grumpy letter to MP Peter Dunne. Would you believe (Kerry does!) that Hitler prevented a “tobacco holocaust”? Hmm, seems Hitler saved some people from death by smoking, and the Adelaide Institute and it’s New Zealand Associate would like to have us believe that the Nazi Party never did “smoke” a few million people up crematorium chimmneys.
American Nazis are spreading their hateful message of white supremacy in New Zealand - and have set up two chapters here.
And the deputy leader of the National Socialist Movement last night told Sunday News he plans to set up multiple chapters of the high-profile US white power group across New Zealand.
“We want more chapters in New Zealand. I would like to see dozens of chapters,” Colonel Tim Bishop said.
The Minneapolis-based hate group - which uses Nazi Germany’s swastika - has branches in most US states and has spread to the UK, Sweden and South Africa.
“We’re a white rights organisation, we’re here to safeguard our people and we’re here to safeguard our culture and in New Zealand to organise the people who founded New Zealand,” Bishop said.
“All these units will operate in their area. They operate within the (Minneapolis) headquarter’s unit, but they are able to operate … as their own entity.”
A Sunday News investigation has revealed one of the National Socialist Movement’s Kiwi chapters is right-wing political party New Zealand National Front.
The National Front has been linked to racially motivated arson attacks - including the arson of a marae.
In December 2005, National Front members Jason Molloy and Ross Baumgarten were jailed for the vandalism of six Muslim mosques and cultural centres in Auckland.
The pair smashed windows and sprayed “R I P London” on the Muslim places of worship after the 2005 London terrorist bombings.
National Front leader Colin “Sid” Wilson was last night unavailable for comment.
Bishop said Wilson was a sergeant major in the National Socialist Movement.
“That may sound like a low rank but we don’t give out ranks easily,” Bishop said.
“You get rank by joining, actively fighting for our cause, by preaching the truth and handing out literature.”
The National Front’s website lists “traitor MPs”, including Prime Minister Helen Clark.
Bishop would not reveal details of the second Kiwi chapter, or numbers of New Zealand members.
“All that I will say is that every white New Zealander has a right to be proud of his heritage and his people,” Bishop said.
“We have doctors, lawyers all sorts of people in our organisation. Some of them - like myself - are proud to show their colours, others understandably like to stay in the background.”
In August, Sunday News revealed Wellington-based Nazi sympathiser Nic Miller was posting addresses and phone numbers of Jewish community members on his vile website.
AT A GLANCE: Neo-Nazis
WHAT: The National Socialist Movement claims to be the largest white power group in the United States.
WHO: The registered political party has been linked to the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Brotherhood and the Racial Nationalist Party of American.
WHY: Inspired by Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, members wear swastikas on their arms and Brown shirts similar to those of Germany’s World War II army.
WHEN: Founded in 1974, the National Socialist Movement claims to have chapters in most states of America, in the UK, Sweden, South Africa, Serbia and New Zealand. Leader of the group is commander Jeff Schoep and rank depends on length of service. Opened its first chapter in New Zealand - known as the New Zealand National Front - about two years ago and a second earlier this month.
National Front members clashed with protesters as they marched on Parliament yesterday, shocking tourists but leading to only one arrest.
Around 30 members of the National Front were in Wellington for their annual rally to “celebrate the New Zealand flag”. National Front Director Sid Wilson attacked multiculturalism, describing it as “genocide” and “holocaust” against white and Maori New Zealand.
The rally was met by an 80-strong counter-protest.
Parliamentary security was tight after scenes of chaos and violence in previous years. Two dozen police officers escorted the National Front members as they marched. One protester was arrested after an altercation involving a Soviet flag, but was later released without charge.
Senior Sergeant Marty Parker said police were happy that there was no injury or property damage, but it has been a drain on police resources.
“At the end of the day, we’re here to protect the public and we have to do this sort of thing.”
The confrontation also made its way to the Hutt Park Holiday Park, where National Front members were staying. The park’s details were posted on the internet, and it is has received abusive phone calls about the National Front’s stay. Others at the park said that they were not told of the group’s presence and some were worried about safety.
Park management declined to comment.
And the Sunday Star Times:
Message to National Front: peace, love, spit and shove
22 October 2006
By RUTH HILL
Anti-racism protesters demonstrated their message of peace and reconciliation by spitting, shoving and shouting at National Front members who marched on Parliament yesterday to mark the 137th anniversary of the New Zealand flag.
One protester was arrested and charged with breaching the peace.
Twenty National Front members, mainly shaven-headed men in their 20s, some women dressed in black and a girl of about 12, marched from the railway station to the Cenotaph, where they had intended to stage a rally.
When they found the war memorial already occupied by about 100 peace activists and anarchists, they turned up Parliament’s drive and gathered at the statue of Richard Seddon. A wedding party there decided to leave.
After waiting for the protesters and media to regroup, National Front leader Sid Wilson announced his party would one day run the country.
“One day the National Front will be the government and we will be in that building and we will take the country back to where it should be: a place of peace and happiness,” he said.
In his speech, which was drowned out by chants of “Nazi scum, on the run”, he called for a halt to immigration and foreign investment.
One protester, who clambered up the statue and refused to get down, was hauled away by two police officers.
Protesters, mostly disguised in masks and scarves, jostled the group during the short walk back to the railway station, where police formed a barricade on the platform to let the group board the train.
The National Front gathering coincided with its annual meeting, which is being held this weekend at a Hutt Valley motor camp.
